Social accountability

Prealpina’s social responsibility management system complies with the UNIC’s Social Accountability code of conduct for tanning processes. This is the first international standard that officially defines the behaviour and social responsibility values that characterize the company.

Prealpina is LWG certified. This certification is the first in the world to guarantee ecological production and systemic management to ensure quality, respect toward the environment, safety and ethical behaviour. The LWG certification demonstrates Prealpina’s commitment to improved sustainability in the entire leather supply chain.

ICEC certifies that Prealpina’s environmental management system meets the UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 standard, a certification that attests to the company’s ability to follow its environmental policies and comply with applicable laws to limit environmental pollution.

Idrotech

Prealpina uses the IDROTECH® brand certification for leathers that are produced with specific characteristics involving water resistance and transpiration. It is a retanning method that gives the leather excellent resistance in water-repellency tests, while maintaining a natural, elegant and refined appearance.

Greentech

Prealpina leather is GREENTECH® certified, a form of “metal-free” tanning that does not require the use of chromium or other heavy metals: This is particularly well suited to the orthopedic-health sector and to avoid contact allergies, but nowadays it is also widely used by the luxury and fashion industries, given that it is a form of green tanning.
